Meet our poet in residence John Rice. John Rice is a poet, storyteller, writer-in-education, and photographer who has published numerous books for both children and adults. With countless visits to schools across the UK, he has also appeared on TV & radio, and still finds time to be a genuinely lovely person.
John was born in Glasgow. After attending college in Irvine, he joined the Army’s Intelligence Corps in 1966 where he studied Arabic and became a translator in the Middle East. Following early retirement in early 2008 he decided to become a full time writer.
Dinosorry
A chubby little dinosaur,
round and oddly bounceable:
I’d like to introduce him
but he’s sadly unannounceable.
He’s tense and often edgy,
his temper very flounceable:
he never gets to meet new friends
for his name is UNPRONOUNCEABLE!
